Reina Luisa Tamayo Arrested days before the one-year anniversary of her son's death

Reina Luisa Tamayo, mother of former political prisoner and martyr, Orlando Zapata Tamayo, was arrested at her home in Banes, Holguín. State officials brutally entered the 62-year old's home this morning along with other members of her family.

State officials arrested Reina Luisa, and other relatives, only 5 days before the one-year anniversary of the death of her son. Likely a preemptive measure by the regime to minimize awareness of the continued violations of Human Rights.

Orlando Zapata Tamayo died on February 23rd, 2010 following an 85-day hunger strike calling for the release of all political prisoners.
